Modern Diagnostics, a CLIA and COLA-accredited diagnostic laboratory, is seeking a licensed Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to serve as Laboratory Supervisor. This individual will oversee daily laboratory operations, ensure regulatory compliance, supervise testing personnel, and play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of quality in our diagnostic testing services. Schedule will be M-F, 8:30-4:30, with a 1-hour lunch break.
Key Functions of the Role
- Consult with client facilities and answer questions about our services
- Facilitate proficiency testing
- Cover the duties of a Technical Supervisor
- Process molecular samples for our Lab Director to review
- Draft job listings, facilitating interviews, and coordinating hiring needs
- Answer workflow questions
- Compile and manage inventory lists for all benches and manage a team of Lab Techs
- Manage Projects and Timelines
- Problem solve and ask questions
- Be ready to take on the challenges and excitement of growing with a startup laboratory
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of molecular biology techniques, nucleic acid extraction, and PCR amplification.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with strong attention to detail.
- Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex testing issues independently.
- Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation, data analysis software, and quality management systems.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, patient safety, and ethical laboratory practice.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a laboratory environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and handle laboratory specimens, reagents, and equipment safely.
- Exposure to potentially infectious materials; adherence to biosafety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
- Manual dexterity sufficient for precise pipetting, specimen handling, and instrument operation.
