Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and experienced A-Class Industrial Mechanic/Technician to join our maintenance team at a high-output industrial bakery. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of high-capacity baking equipment and automated systems. This includes ovens, mixers, conveyors, packaging machinery, proofers, refrigeration units, and programmable logic controller (PLC)–driven systems. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under time-sensitive production conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • -Perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance on industrial bakery equipment and automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on large-scale bakery machinery and robotics.
  • Conduct regular inspections and safety checks to ensure that all equipment meets food safety and operational standards.
  • - Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, PLC ladder logic, and equipment manuals to perform accurate repairs and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with production and sanitation teams to minimize equipment downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Participate in equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document maintenance activities and generate reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and all other applicable health and safety standards in a food production environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to 5S principles.
  • Provide mentorship and support to B-Class and C-Class maintenance team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a food manufacturing or industrial bakery environment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, industrial automation, PLC troubleshooting, pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial ovens, proofers, mixers, dough handling systems, and packaging lines.
  • Ability to use machine shop tools and precision measurement instruments.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills in high-pressure conditions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Omron PLCs and HMIs.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Electrical license or additional certifications (e.g., food safety, lockout/tagout).
  • Experience using CMMS platforms (e.g., Fiix, eMaint, SAP PM).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Work Conditions

  • Fast-paced industrial bakery environment with exposure to high heat, noise, and flour dust.
  • Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and on-call availability as required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces.
