Class A diesel mechanic or diesel service technician. These professionals are responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel vehicles, including semi-trucks and tractor-trailers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostic Testing: Using diagnostic tools to identify issues in heavy-duty diesel vehicles.
  • Repairs: Performing repairs on semi-trucks and tractor-trailers, including replacing parts, overhauling engines, and addressing issues with drivelines and electrical systems.
  • Maintenance & Service: Performing routine maintenance and servicing on all aspects of the vehicles, including changing fluids, rotating tires, and addressing other maintenance needs.
  • Performance Testing: Test-driving vehicles to assess performance and identify areas needing attention after repairs.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Implementing and performing preventative maintenance procedures to keep vehicles in optimal condition.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed records of service performed on vehicles.
  • Safety Procedures: Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while working on vehicles.
  • Physical requirements: standing, walking, lifting (often over 50 lbs), and working in various positions like stooping, kneeling, and bending. Dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to use tools are also essential.

Qualifications:

  • Three years’ experience in diesel engine repair
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engine technology and components
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem solving
  • Proficiency in operating all types of vehicles, equipment and tools
  • Able to work in a fast paced, demanding environment
  • Good interpersonal skills with Supervisors and Co-workers
  • Willing to obtain factory certifications
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Class A CDL -, not required
