Civil Structural Engineer (All Levels) - Newcastle

Westlakes Recruit are supporting one of our major clients recruiting for Civil Structural Engineers at Engineer / Senior / Principal Level based out of Warrington or Newcastle on a hybrid basis.\n\nKey responsibilities could include:\n\nSupport the analysis, design and construction preparation activities relating to structures and civil engineering features within nuclear and energy projects.\nSupport requirements capture and a Systems Engineering approach.\nContribute across the project lifecycle from bid , through concept and detailed design development to construction.\nPreparation of safety case inputs, such as Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs), Structural Design Method Statements (SDMSs) and Design Substantiation Reports (DSR).\nPreparation of Interpretive Reports, Basis of Design, Finite Element Modelling and Analyses, Calculations, CDM documentation, Material Specifications, Scopes of Work, and Technical Reports\nAssist in the preparation of design safety documentation and compliance with nuclear safety standards\nParticipate in site surveys and inspections.\nContribute to problem-solving, technical investigations, and root cause analysis.\nProduce high-quality technical reports. \nBuild and maintain valuable relationships with peers, partners and clients.\n\nSkills and Qualifications (the following list outlines desirable skills and qualifications. We therefore encourage applications from individuals with relevant experience and potential):\n\nMEng, MSc, BEng or BSc or equivalent in civil engineering or another relevant discipline.\nWorking towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body (we will support you). \nAn awareness of civil nuclear plant systems, structures and components and associated design and assessment guidelines (or relevant engineering principles from other highly regulated industries).\nKnowledge or civil engineering principals, design tools and relevant guidelines, standards and practices (in particular American standards ACI, ASCE and AISC).\nExperience using finite element modelling software and associated post processing software, with experience in validation and verification of modelling tools and their outputs.\nGood knowledge of health and safety legislation and good practice.\nUnderstanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment.\nUK Nuclear Licencing and Generic Design Assessment process experience is desirable\nMotivated team member with the ability to work to deadlines and communicate project progress.\nGood communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders.\nCommitted to Continuous Professional Development
