ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB's Maine team is seeking a Site Civil Engineer to support land development projects in our South Portland office. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join a growing team of civil engineers in southern Maine managing the design of ski resort improvements, park projects, local urban re-development projects, transit-oriented development, and federal, state, and local (City/Town) projects throughout Maine. VHB offers a unique combination of industry-leading Land Development experience across our footprint coupled with a focused and driven team of local professionals who are growing the delivery of these services across the state.
Our Maine Land Development team is looking for a Site Civil Engineer who is passionate about contributing to the delivery of these fun and unique projects. Responsibilities
Work within a team of professionals in developing site civil engineering plans, reports, and specifications for a multitude of land development projects
Technical and design report writing
Civil engineering for federal, resort, residential, higher education, renewable energy, and municipal design including grading and drainage design, utility design, and site layout
Preparation and/or reviewing design criteria, drawings, and specifications
Compilation of Stormwater Management reports, including Hydrologic modeling and pipe sizing
Preparation of schematic design, design development, and construction contract documentation
Assist in the preparation of permitting, design, and construction documents
Attending meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues
Skills and Attributes
Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design preferred
Ability to think critically and creatively in a team-focused environment
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience preparing graphics and maps
AutoCAD Civil 3D
GIS, HydroCAD, and StormCAD experience a plus
Attention to detail
Self-motivated
Qualifications
BS in Civil Engineering (a master's may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
1-3 years of engineering experience (may include extensive co-op/ experience)
EIT Certification Preferred
