Civil Engineering Technologist (Structural)

Responsibilities What your day will look like:Technical WorkCollaboration with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and technical and administrative support staff in the development of detailed design contract packages;Assistance to project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of transportation structures;Completion of detailed design drafting for a variety of project types;Application of 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD and other specialty programs to produce design drawings;Preparation of construction drawings/documents;Assistance with contract administration tasks including construction observation, shop drawing review, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation, and responding to requests for information; Coordination and completion of site assessments, construction observation and construction management of site documentation;Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.Learning and DevelopmentA commitment to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development;A commitment to career development supported by senior drafters and engineers with 20 + years of experience;Opportunity to enroll in Dillon’s early career development program. Qualifications What you will need to succeed:EducationDiploma program from an accredited Architectural or Engineering Technologist Program, or equivalent. Experience 2-5 Years of experience in the engineering consulting industry;Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills;Highly organized and detail oriented;Proficient use of current AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM) software is considered an asset;Knowledge of Civil 3D is considered an asset;Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial/industry engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements is considered an asset;Understanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration is considered an asset.Why choose DillonDillon is powered by people who are technically proficient, passionate about socially important projects, and motivated to deliver superior, tangible results.
