Civil Engineering Technician

As a Civil Engineering Tech you will work closely with a team of experienced engineers and other technicians. Primary responsibilities will include assisting in engineering analysis, design, field inspections, writing reports, preparing permit applications, site drainage & grading designs.

Some key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Perform basic calculations based on assignment i.e. hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, or calculations to balance site earthwork;
  • Designing water and sewer systems for smaller private and larger municipal systems;
  • Assist with grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans;
  • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects; Assist in project planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives;
  • Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress;
  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions;
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions;

Key skills and abilities needed for the position are:

  • Basic skills or knowledge with AutoCAD software;
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups;
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook;

Education and experience requirements are:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required;
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) License ;
  • Desire to obtain a Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in the state of New Hampshire
  • 0 to 5 years experience
