Civil Engineering Rotational (Spring 2026)

BETA Group, Inc is offering an exciting opportunity for motivated and inquisitive Civil Engineering students to join our Rotational Program. This structured provides hands-on experience across multiple civil engineering disciplines, allowing interns to gain exposure to a wide range of projects and practices. Interns will rotate through various departments; including structural, transportation, geotechnical, water resources, and construction management to develop a well-rounded understanding of the field and explore areas of interest for future specialization.
While specific duties may vary by rotation, typical responsibilities include:
- Assisting with design calculations, technical drawings, and project documentation
- Supporting fieldwork activities, site inspections, and data collection
- Participating in team meetings and contributing to project planning discussions
- Using engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or GIS tools
- Conducting research and preparing reports under the guidance of professional engineers
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes
- Ask lots of questions!
Rotational Areas May Include:
- Transportation Engineering – Assist with traffic analysis, roadway design, and planning
- Geotechnical Engineering – Conduct soil analysis and foundation design tasks
- Water Resources – Work on stormwater management, flood modeling, and hydraulics
- Construction Management – Participate in construction oversight, scheduling, and QA/QC
- Environmental Engineering – Assist with environmental assessments and permitting
location is BETA’s Hartford, CT office.

Requirements:
Skills Required:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in engineering, or related field
- Understanding of general engineering theory and concepts
- Proficient in the use of current technology (i.e., tablets, smart phones, laptops, etc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong technical aptitude with an eagerness to learn
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
- Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Experience:
- General working knowledge of AutoCAD or other CAD platform
- EIT (Fundamentals of Engineering)
