About the Role

The City of South Fulton is seeking a Capital Projects Manager to oversee municipal capital improvement and SPLOST projects. This is a high-impact role where you'll manage roadway, transportation, and public works projects that directly shape the future of Atlanta's infrastructure. You'll be responsible for guiding projects through the GDOT Plan Development Process (PDP), coordinating civil design and construction contracts, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all standards. This position is based onsite at the City of South Fulton offices and involves close collaboration with contractors, consultants, and local/state agencies.

What You'll Do

Plan, organize, and manage municipal capital improvement (CIP) and SPLOST transportation projects.

Oversee design and construction contracts, cost estimating, field inspections, and project prioritization.

Manage projects through the GDOT PDP and ensure compliance with state/federal requirements.

Lead public works projects including roadway expansions, sidewalks/shared-use paths, stormwater infrastructure, bridges, traffic control improvements, and utilities coordination.

Review and approve civil designs to ensure adherence to all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.

Conduct field inspections, resolve construction issues, and coordinate with utility companies, contractors, developers, and internal city departments.

Represent the City at public meetings and community events to communicate project updates.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree

in Civil Engineering (or related field).

7+ years

of experience managing civil/transportation design and construction projects.

Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

GDOT LAP certification required.

Strong background in

transportation design

and familiarity with the Atlanta area.

Proven success managing projects through the GDOT PDP.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Construction Management experience highly .

Local Atlanta candidates (relocation assistance considered).

Schedule:

MondayFriday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (occasional overtime as needed)

Travel:

Local, around South Fulton (company truck provided)

Work Style:

Primarily onsite (remote only if sick or exceptional circumstances)

Background & drug screening required
