Position Summary
Looking for an experienced Civil Engineer specializing in water resources to design, develop, and implement innovative and sustainable water management solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydraulic modeling, stormwater management, and environmental compliance, with a focus on California-specific regulations and best practices.
Pay Range: $100,000 to $130,000 per year DOE
Key Responsibilities
Design and analyze stormwater management systems, including detention facilities, drainage networks, and green infrastructure
Develop hydraulic and hydrologic models using industry-standard software
Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction documents
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on integrated water resource projects
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including California's Stormwater Quality requirements and MS4 permits
Perform site assessments and field investigations to gather data for design development
Review and interpret geotechnical reports, topographic surveys, and utility information
Prepare cost estimates and technical specifications for water resource projects
Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and CAD technicians
Represent the company at client meetings and public presentations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's degree )
Professional Engineer (PE) license in California
5+ years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on water resources
Demonstrated expertise in hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, etc.)
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS applications
Strong knowledge of California stormwater regulations and Low Impact Development (LID) practices
Experience with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance
Excellent technical writing and communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Project management experience
Skills/Experience
LEED AP or Envision SP certification
Experience with groundwater modeling and management
Familiarity with water supply planning and conservation strategies
Knowledge of water quality modeling and Best Management Practices (BMPs)
Experience with Orange County and surrounding municipal regulatory requirements
Background in drought management and water reuse strategies
