Civil Engineer – Highways & Drainage - Leeds
Location: Leeds
Salary: £37,000 – £45,000
Experience: 3–7 years
A leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is looking for a Civil Engineer with a strong background in highways and drainage design to join their growing Leeds team. You’ll work on a wide portfolio of UK infrastructure projects, supporting local authorities, developers, and frameworks.
What you’ll be doing
Delivering design work for S278, S38, S104 and wider infrastructure schemes
Producing highways and drainage designs from feasibility through to detailed design
Working with DMRB, local authority standards, and active travel guidance (LTN 1/20)
Producing drawings, reports, and technical documentation
Coordinating with internal teams across structures, transport planning, and environment
Supporting senior engineers and mentoring juniors where appropriate
What they’re looking for
3–7 years’ experience in civil, highways, or drainage engineering
Strong knowledge of UK design standards (DMRB, SuDS, local authority guidance)
Experience with Civil 3D or AutoCAD, and drainage software such as MicroDrainage / Causeway Flow
Ability to deliver highway geometry, drainage layouts, and general civil engineering details
Good communication skills and experience working with public-sector or consultancy clients
