Civil Engineer / Associate EngineerWe're seeking a Civil Engineer / Associate Engineer to support a large-scale rail infrastructure construction program based in Sacramento, CA. Working under senior engineering staff, you'll prepare and maintain CAD drawings, track charts, and construction documentation, review plans and specifications for accuracy, and support field engineering and project coordination activities across a major transportation infrastructure delivery effort. This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who wants real, hands-on exposure to megaprogram-scale rail construction.This is a long-term, full-time, on-site position located in Sacramento, CA.Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Prepare, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, sketches, exhibits, and construction support documents using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or other CAD platforms.Support engineers with drafting, maintenance, and construction support activities across active transportation infrastructure projects.Review engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy under the guidance of senior staff.Incorporate redline markups and revisions into engineering drawings and maintain drawing files in accordance with established project standards.Support field engineering staff by preparing construction sketches, record drawings, and as-built documentation.Develop engineering calculations, quantity takeoffs, technical reports, and project exhibits and presentations.Coordinate with designers, surveyors, construction managers, contractors, and other project team members to support project delivery.Maintain organized electronic engineering files and support document management and version control processes.Participate in design reviews, as-built reviews, project meetings, and coordination activities.Attributes:Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in technical documentation.Eagerness to learn and grow within a high-visibility, multi-year rail construction program.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or transportation engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.1+ years of engineering, drafting, design, or construction support experience.Working knowledge of engineering drawings, track charts, standard drawings, drafting principles, and construction documentation practices.Demonstrated proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation.Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Qualifications:Master's degree in civil engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or transportation engineering.Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or progress toward obtaining EIT.Experience supporting passenger rail, transit, or other large-scale transportation infrastructure projects.Experience supporting transportation megaprograms exceeding $1B in program value. or academic project experience involving engineering design, CAD drafting, or construction support.Familiarity with Caltrans standards and transportation engineering practices.Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, or OpenRoads.Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu, ProjectWise, or other electronic document management systems.Compensation Details:Expected Salary: $75k-$110k/year ($36-$52/hour).
