Job Description
As the Chief Engineer at Westgate Resorts, you will be on the front lines keeping the resort running seamlessly. You will lead by example and be actively involved in daily engineering and maintenance operations while overseeing the department. From troubleshooting complex systems to setting safety and performance standards, you will be working alongside your team to ensure everything operates at peak efficiency. Collaborating closely with cross-functional leaders, you will drive practical improvements, solve challenges, and play a direct role in delivering exceptional vacation experiences for every guest.
As the Chief Engineer, you will:
- Develop and execute the strategic vision and direction for the Engineering Department, aligning with the resort’s overall objectives.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the Engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence while ensuring accountability.
- Implement, train, and enforce safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe environment for guests and employees.
- Be responsible for the effective scheduling and budgeting of the Engineering Department.
- Manage capital reservations and expenses, P&L reviews, and expense forecasting.
- Oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of the resort’s infrastructure, mechanical systems, and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Lead the planning and execution of major Capital and Reserve improvement projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budgets, and timelines.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory authorities, ensuring contract compliance and effective partnerships.
- Manage the procurement and inventory of all tools and materials purchased and assigned to the Engineering Department.
- Communicate professionally through radios, phones, emails, and verbal interactions.
- Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed.
- Must adhere to all CFI/Westgate Resorts policies and procedures.
- Must always represent Westgate Resorts professionally through appearance, attire, and behavior.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by resort operations leadership.

Qualifications
- High school diploma required; bachelor's or associate degree in a maintenance-related field is .
- Licenses or certifications in core trades such as refrigeration, plumbing, or electrical are .
- OSHA safety certification is .
- Must hold a valid driver’s license in the state of employment.
- Ability to adapt to various tasks, perform effectively under pressure, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Must be detail-oriented with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create documents using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in effectively using resort operations devices and software (HotSOS).
- Expert ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical data, and O&M manuals.
- Must be able to recognize and resolve potential hazards on the property.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and battery-powered tools, as well as other relevant tools required for the job.
- Ability to work using ladders, scaffolding, lifts, dust masks, and within confined/restricted spaces.
- Ability to interpret and address guest needs through positive interactions toward resolutions.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
