SUMMARY
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the general maintenance of the property and will provide after-hour support as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Guest Service

Maintains guest service as the driving philosophy of the operation

Ensures hotel standards and services contribute to the delivery of consistent guest service

Implements and practices guest service initiatives and performs to Gulph Creek Hotel Standards
Maintenance Duties
-
Oversees maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of buildings, hotel rooms and contents, laundry and kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating/air conditioning ventilation, and water treatment systems.

Ensures that the rooms and property are maintained in the best possible condition, with the least inconvenience to guests.

Oversees cleaning and maintenance of swimming pool in a safe and sanitary manner

Checks and preforms preventative maintenance on pumps, chlorinators, and filters for swimming pool
-
Provides on-call support for urgent requests after hours, on weekends, holidays, etc.

Performs preventive maintenance as outlined in the Preventative Maintenance Program.

Follows procedures that ensure the security of inventory.

Reports emergencies or threats to the security of guests, employees or hotel assets.

Reports any hazardous situations, malfunctioning to external signs or unlit areas.

Installs, adjusts, modifies and repairs building systems and assess the conditions of all effective operations.

Tests safety systems, e.g. emergency lighting and record keeping and assist with periodic inspection of all safety systems.

Ensures that room maintenance requests are handled in a prompt and courteous manner.

Follows up on all alarms immediately to determine the exact location and cause. Determines emergency status and repair projects.

Oversees the engineering staff in adhering to Loss Prevention guidelines.

Performs inspections on a regular basis of working orders and checks adjusts repairs and monitor the building system.

Complies at all times with Gulph Creek standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

Approaches all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

Maintains regular attendance in compliance with Gulph Creek Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.

Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent required.

2 years’ experience in general building maintenance and/or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Advanced vocational training a plus.
-
May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Must have good communication and customer service skills.
AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to read and speak English/Spanish and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees

Ability to effectively communicate with employees, guests and supervisors for optimum operation of the property

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

Demonstrated engineering skills
REASONING ABILITY
Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
-
Refrigeration, electrical, plumbing skills, boiler operation and maintenance skills, water treatment and chiller operation knowledge.

Must have a valid driver’s license.
Tools & Equipment:
Hand and power tools, electrical test equipment, refrigeration equipment, plumbing equipment, welding equipment, audio-visual equipment, pipe cutting equipment, telephone, office equipment, calculator, computer/computerized monitoring systems.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
