Responsibilities

  • Lead or support incident investigations in assigned areas to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Champion a Zero Incident Mindset across teams by fostering a proactive and preventative safety culture.
  • Support crews during incident investigations and follow up with preventive measures.
  • Provide daily technical support for production activities, using in-depth process knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Participate in daily production meetings, reviewing line status ahead of time and presenting updates, concerns, or needs.
  • Investigate technical concerns raised by employees and provide support, including training as needed.
  • Offer input to the Plant Manager for daily communications summarizing key process needs and priorities.
  • Serve as backup for the Plant Manager during their absence, assisting in daily operational decision-making.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a dashboard of performance metrics to track real-time process performance versus targets.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and delivery of process-specific training programs to ensure a well-trained operational workforce.
  • Assist in the creation and updates of manufacturing procedures.
  • Develop deep expertise in process operations, including reaction chemistry, advanced controls, and equipment behavior.
  • Organize and manage a portfolio of PHA action items, providing regular updates to key operating division stakeholders.
  • Maintain and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data; manage and update citation control strategies.
  • Identify and lead improvements in process monitoring, control systems, and operator situational awareness.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes within the assigned area.
  • Understand process chemistry thoroughly to support efficient, safe, and compliant production.
  • Develop expertise in copolyester product compatibility to minimize risks of cross-contamination.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of improvement initiatives to drive efficiency, safety, and reliability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in chemical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within the chemical or olefins manufacturing industry.
  • Strong background in process troubleshooting and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple teams.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and bias for action.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
  • Capable of identifying and responding to hazardous or emergency situations.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and work in confined or elevated areas.
  • Must tolerate loud environments and variable temperature conditions.
  • Must maintain visual acuity for operating vehicles and heavy machinery.
  • Physical agility including balancing, lifting, and responding quickly to auditory cues.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • May involve working in narrow aisles or confined spaces.
  • Exposure to atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  • Potential exposure to oils and other fluids.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator when required.
