We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Pipe Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for welding and repairing pipes, tubes, and fittings for high-pressure applications in accordance with industry standards. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a deep commitment to safety protocols.
Salary: Hourly rate varies from $35-40/hr depending on experience
Responsibilities
- Fabrication and Welding: Execute pipe welds using various techniques, such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW, on different materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex blueprints, P&IDs (piping and instrumentation diagrams), and technical drawings to determine welding and fabrication requirements.
- Material Preparation: Prepare materials for welding by measuring, cutting, beveling, grinding, and cleaning pipes to ensure proper fit-up and alignment.
- Quality Control: Inspect and test finished welds for defects to ensure they meet X-ray quality standards and applicable codes like ASME and AWS.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies, industry regulations, and codes to maintain a safe working environment.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on welding machines, tools, and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve problems that may arise during the welding process, such as joint misalignment or equipment malfunction.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with pipefitters, engineers, and other tradespeople to complete projects on schedule.
Working conditions
- Environment: The role may involve working indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions and environments, including construction sites, plants, and confined spaces.
- Physical demands: The job is physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods, bend, crouch, and lift heavy materials.
- Safety gear: Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including a welding helmet, gloves, and flame-resistant clothing.
