Overview
Energy Jobline is supporting a major international energy infrastructure programme and is seeking an experienced Certification Engineer to oversee certification and compliance activities across the project lifecycle.
The role will ensure all engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning deliverables meet certification authority requirements and applicable international standards.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Quality Manager, the Certification Engineer will coordinate certification activities between the project team and the appointed Certification Authority (CA), ensuring that all systems, equipment, and documentation comply with regulatory, class, and client requirements.
The role will manage certification documentation, coordinate inspections and audits, and ensure all project deliverables meet certification requirements prior to final operational approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Project Certification Plan in accordance with client and certification authority requirements
- Maintain a Certification Register identifying all systems and equipment requiring certification approval
- Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable class rules and international standards
- Review vendor documentation to confirm equipment compliance with certification requirements
- Manage certification documentation including material certificates, test reports, welding qualifications, and inspection records
- Ensure traceability of materials and equipment throughout procurement and fabrication processes
- Act as the primary interface between the project team and certification authorities such as DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s Register, or Bureau Veritas
- Coordinate inspections, audits, and witness points required by the certification authority
- Support inspection teams in verifying fabrication, testing, and installation activities
- Ensure certification-related NCRs are addressed and resolved in line with project procedures
- Compile and submit the final certification documentation package prior to project handover
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of certification and verification processes within energy or offshore projects
- Knowledge of international standards including API, ASME, ISO, IEC, and related certification frameworks
- Experience coordinating with certification authorities and regulatory bodies
- Familiarity with engineering, fabrication, and commissioning documentation control processes
- Strong attention to detail and documentation management skills
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Structural, Marine, or a related Engineering discipline
- Minimum 10 years’ experience within oil & gas, energy, or offshore infrastructure projects
- Experience working with certification authorities such as DNV, BV, ABS, or Lloyd’s Register
- Additional certification or qualifications in quality assurance or inspection (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, CSWIP, API, ASNT) are advantageous
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

The advertised day rate applies to independent consultants operating on a contract basis. Candidates who prefer to be engaged as employees of the client may be offered a different remuneration structure.
