Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY
The Centralized Services Engineer is responsible for proactively maintaining, securing, and optimizing client IT systems. This role ensures standardization, high-quality service delivery, and alignment with cybersecurity and infrastructure best practices. The technician plays a vital role in enhancing system reliability, performance, and security, contributing to operational excellence under the TruMethods framework.
In addition to centralized services responsibilities, this role incorporates key System Administrator functions. The engineer will manage and support core infrastructure components such as virtualization platforms (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware), backup and disaster recovery solutions, patch management, and server health monitoring. They will also assist with and access management, endpoint configuration, and cloud service administration (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure).
This hybrid role requires strong troubleshooting skills, a deep understanding of modern IT infrastructure, and the ability to implement and support scalable, secure environments across multiple client networks.
Experience working at a Managed Services Provider (MSP) and familiarity with MSP tools such as RMM, PSA, and SIEM/SOC platforms is required.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is primarily based in-office at USM Technology’s headquarters in Allen, Texas. Some flexibility for remote work may be allowed based on technician capability and business needs.
Minimal travel may be required to client locations for project-related activities or equipment handling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESBackup Management

Verify completion and reliability of backups across all systems.

Perform test restores of servers and Microsoft 365 data to ensure data integrity.
Firewall Management & Security Reviews

Monitor and address findings from CISA Advisory Notifications and Cyber Hygiene Reports.

Implement cybersecurity improvements based on security review outcomes.
Scripting & Automation
-
Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate maintenance tasks.

Standardize RMM tool deployment across all client environments.
Change Management
-
Maintain and enforce change control for critical systems, including firewalls, network infrastructure, and Microsoft 365.
Security Enhancements
-
Manage and improve Microsoft Secure Score and security configurations.

Deploy and maintain cybersecurity tools to protect client systems.
Patch Management
-
Execute server and workstation patching routines.

Verify patch compliance and resolve patch failures.
Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Projects
-
Implement projects such as Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and PC Backup.

Improve security posture through continuous project initiatives.
Server & Active Directory Management
-
Manage hybrid server environments (Azure/on-prem), including updates and patching.

Coordinate vendor support for specialized applications and remote printing/scanning.
Network Monitoring & Administration

Monitor network health, suppress non-essential alerts, and ensure critical issues are escalated.
Process Improvement & Documentation

Identify and execute opportunities for infrastructure and documentation improvements.

Maintain SOPs and internal training for all Centralized IT Services processes and tools.

Minimum 4 years of experience in MSP operations, infrastructure, systems engineering and/or IT automation.

Must have experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.

Must have experience with the Kaseya Stack (Autotask, RMM, IT Glue, etc.).

Must have experience managing and supporting the Microsoft 365 Suite.

Experience supporting hybrid environments (Azure, Microsoft 365, RMM tools, on-prem servers).

Experience working in a medical or healthcare technology environment is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field is .
