Murphy Oil Corporation is looking for a Senior Reservoir Engineer

Offshore to work operated and non-operated Gulf of America (GOA) deepwater fields for the subsurface development department. The Senior Reservoir Engineer should be a self-starter, comfortable contributing in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. They must have demonstrated experience in maturing drilling, workover, and other opportunities using both analytical and numeric simulation methods. They will also have a demonstrated ability to develop/update depletion plans to maximize asset value while accounting for key uncertainties.

The Senior Reservoir Engineer will need to document results and develop concise supporting presentations to clearly communicate recommendations to management, partners and regulatory authorities on a variety of technical topics. Decline Curve Analysis (DCA), PTA/RTA, PVT Analysis, Nodal Analysis, Material Balance, Reservoir Simulation and Economic Analysis are the key skills required. They should understand how these analyses enhance reservoir characterization and impact reserves/resource estimates.

The Senior Reservoir Engineer should have a demonstrated ability to work across disciplines including Geology/Geophysics, Production Engineering, Drilling, and Projects.

The Sr Reservoir Engineer will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely.

Responsibilities

Work with multidisciplinary teams to create/update development plans for deepwater fields that incorporate risks and uncertainties in the development decisions

Provide expert guidance when troubleshooting well performance issues and provide recommendations on workover and/or stimulation treatments

Provide expert knowledge of classical reservoir engineering, including material balance, PTA and PVT analyses

Build and maintain reservoir models in close collaboration with geoscientists to ensure integration of all relevant data. Advanced reservoir modelling skills and in-depth experience with uncertainty analyses and a combination of hands-on modelling and mentoring of colleagues will be required

Receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments

Possesses core discipline knowledge, with proficiency in one or more technical skills

Handles moderately complex problems requiring assessment and interpretation

Works on a variety of activities within a work group or team environment

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering

Minimum 7 years' experience in Reservoir Engineering, 4 years' experience with deepwater fields, 4 years' experience in exploration reservoir engineering support, and 4 years' experience with economic assessments, reservoir simulation, network modeling and pressure transient analysis

Minimum 4 years of experience field development studies and uncertainty analyses

Demonstrated experience with tNavigator/Eclipse, PTA/Kappa, PVT/PVTsim, ValNav, Power BI or similar software packages

Desired/ Qualifications

Minimum 4 years' experience direct Offshore reservoir engineering experience, GOA deepwater experience is .

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a team environment, placing the team's needs ahead of the individual

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment is essential

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
