Location: Van Nuys, CA
Pay Range: $18.00 – $26.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Technical | Hands-On
About the Role
CAPS Aviation is seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically inclined Tool Calibration Technician to join our in-house calibration lab. In this role, you’ll be responsible for inspecting, testing, and calibrating precision tools and equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and traceable industry standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background or interest in metrology, mechanics, quality assurance, or electrical testing. Prior calibration experience is helpful but not required—we provide full training for candidates with strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn.

Responsibilities

Calibrate and verify accuracy of mechanical, electrical, pressure, torque, and dimensional tools

Operate and maintain calibration standards such as multimeters, torque testers, pressure gauges, calipers, micrometers, and scales

Record “as found” and “as left” data in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 principles

Identify tools out of tolerance and assist with basic troubleshooting and minor adjustments

Clean, label, and package tools following service completion

Ensure proper documentation for compliance and traceability

Work from established procedures while maintaining a clean, organized lab environment

Communicate tool status and updates with team members and customers as needed
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required

Mechanical or technical background (e.g., automotive, machining, electronics, quality control)

Familiarity with hand tools, test equipment, or precision measurement devices

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures

Basic math and computer skills, including data entry

Strong reading comprehension and documentation skills

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and remain focused in a detail-driven environment

Willingness to learn and grow within a structured process
