CAD Technician – Survey Drafting

Location: Rocky Hill, CT
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role

Martinez Couch & Associates (MCA) is seeking an experienced CAD Technician with a strong background in survey drafting to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience, strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ideally some experience with MicroStation. This role provides drafting and design support for a variety of surveying and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Import electronic survey field notes into CAD platforms

• Prepare survey drawings and maps, including layouts, arrangements, and flow sheets based on:

  • Field data

  • Sketches

  • Existing utility mapping

  • Verbal/written instructions

• Draft plats, ALTA surveys, boundary surveys, and easement maps

• Create surfaces and finalize base maps

• Make revisions based on redlines and verify quantity take-offs

• Set up and maintain standard drawing files in accordance with MCA's drafting standards

• Support projects involving:

  • Municipal infrastructure

  • Bridges and railroads

  • Highways and utilities

  • Stormwater systems

  • Construction stakeout and large land tracts

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of CAD experience in:

  • Topographic, boundary, utility, as-built, and property line drawings

• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and latest AutoCAD versions

• Experience drafting for surveying and civil/site/infrastructure projects

• Ability to prepare ROW acquisition and easement maps

• Familiarity with land development and highway plans

• Understanding of construction stakeout, cut sheets, and computations

• Experience with MicroStation and Bentley Suite ()

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines

• Works independently with minimal supervision

• Strong understanding of CAD standards and project technical requirements

• Team-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude
