The Junior Mechanical Engineer is a key team member that will be responsible for maintaining high quality and safety standards on the wheelchair-accessible vehicle conversions we produce.
What you'll do:
- Assumes responsibility for manufacturing processes.
- Develops, implement, and maintains robust processes that yield accuracy in production, paperwork, labelling, and records.
- Light CAD duties and nesting.
- Collaborates across departments to investigate root causes and develop effective corrective actions to resolve problems and prevent recurrences.
- Manage inventory control processes for Parts Department.
- Strives to increase productivity and reduce expenses across all product lines by establishing and maintaining best known workflow practices
- Identifies, studies, and implements new practices that enhance speed and efficiency while maintaining product safety and integrity
- Evaluates each station of the production process to ensure maximum efficiency and coordination with upstream and downstream processes.
- Ensures that employees follow all applicable in-house, industry, and regulatory health and safety guidelines.
- Creates and oversees an employee training schedule.
- Communicates any problems or obstacles to senior management.
- Maintains open lines of communication between employees and management.
- Ensures proper operation of equipment by developing and implementing a routine maintenance schedule of production equipment.
- Maintains and grows professional and technical knowledge.
What youll need:
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices
- Ability to communicate effectively via written and verbal methods
- Ability to give and receive instructions, feedback, and course corrections
- 2-5 years leading teams, with increasing levels of responsibility
- 2-5 years using structured problem solving/analysis methods
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks/projects
- Mathematically proficient
- Working knowledge of power tools and hand tools (skill saw, Sawzall, cut off wheel, air saw, air hammer, grinders, etc.)
- Demonstrated effective leadership.
