Department: Engineering
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Location: Bremerton (this is not a remote job)
FSLA Status: Exempt
Schedule: Monday Through Thursday, Day Shift (four, ten- hour days)
Pay: $90 to 105K, DOE

Why we need you and what you will be accountable for:
With a record backlog of boats to build, we need help drafting and modeling our amazing high-performance boats to get them ready for Production! You would lead and oversee drafting and modeling activities at SAFE Boats International. As a player coach, you will assign work, lead, direct and mentor other Drafters, and work closely with internal “customers” to ensure they have the information they need accurately and timely and will perform the work as well!
What you would be doing/responsible for:
- Supervises a group of 3-5 drafters/modelers.
- Assigns work, answers questions, troubleshoots and problem solves for their team.
- Ensures quality standards, deliverables, and schedules are met consistently
- Works closely with Leadership in other departments to ensure their needs are being met
- Recruits, hires, and conducts performance management activities for their team
- Approves timecards, time off, schedules- ensuring accuracy in payroll and appropriate coverage for the needs of the business
- Uses CAD software and established drafting standards to develop layouts, drawings, from 3D models generated by designers and engineers
- Develops and refines 3D models under with direction from designers and engineers
- Incorporates marked up corrections from internal and external customers
- Reviews and understands specifications
- Reviews, audits and updates BOMs to synchronize with CAD data
- Prepares shop drawings and work instructions
- Supports production through direct interaction for Q&A and problem solving
- Prepares Technical Data Packages for end users
- Reads, interprets, and applies SAFE Boats, Department of Defense, MIL-SPEC, and regulatory standards and customer supplied documentation
- Researches and keeps up with industry technology and trends.
- Suggests CI (Continuous Improvement) opportunities for their team and department
- As a member of the Leadership team, participates in meetings, presentations, and events representing their department.
- With the support and direction of the Engineering Manager, creates KPI’s for their department and measures regularly. Suggests improvements and conducts performance management as needed.

- Strong communication and technical skills with the ability to quickly grasp technical issues/concepts

- Communication- excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Experience & Education:
- Associate degree in CAD design or equivalent work experience
- Five years of experience in 3D CAD design and 2D drafting
- Experience in a Leadership or Supervisory role (two years)
- Knowledge of ANSI drawing standards
- Marine industry experience a plus
- Solid Edge experience a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing
- Listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
