CIE USA-Century Plastics, a division of the global enterprise CIE Automotive, is seeking a talented CAD Designer to join our team.

Reports to: Director of Engineering

Primary Purpose:

The CAD Designer is responsible for the design and packaging of automotive interior trim products utilizing Catia V5 software.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitate changes and developments to CAD models using Catia V5 software

  • Ability to work with product engineers, program managers, and engineering managers in the development of injection molded components and assemblies

  • Design B-Side features including attachments, doghouses, standoffs, locators, etc.

  • Verify and ensure releases of models are correct

  • Ensure design meets all vehicle environment requirement (package)

  • Ensure correct CAD data is being sent out as needed

  • Verifies product design.

  • Produces and checks product designs for completeness and accuracy.

  • Basic knowledge of the injection molding process and tool construction / operations for feasibility in design

  • Prepares and follows engineering change / data change requests

  • Interfaces with internal departments (manufacturing, quality, sales) to ensure design objectives are met in a timely manner

  • Ensure system requirements are met (customer specifications, FMVSS, SDS, design rules and all DPA interface issues)

Qualifications:

  • Strong CAD design experience utilizing Catia V5

  • 5+ years' experience in plastic interior trim component part design and development

  • Surfacing experience is plus

  • Volkswagen experience a plus

  • Capable of design in 2D Drawings a plus

  • Basic knowledge of GD&T

  • In-depth knowledge of plastics and tooling design requirements

  • Good communication and organizational skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Power Point, etc.)
