Specialty Insulation Solutions is looking for a motivated CAD/CNC Technician to join our design team. This role is ideal for someone with strong AutoCAD skills and some exposure to 3D modeling (such as SolidWorks) who is ready to grow into CNC preparation and production workflows. Training will be provided, but candidates must bring more than entry-level CAD knowledge and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
The CAD/CNC Technician will be responsible for cleaning and preparing AutoCAD drawings for CNC production, helping maintain smooth workflow, and preventing delays on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and clean AutoCAD drawings to be ready for CNC machine production.
- Support the design department by turning around drawings quickly to avoid workflow delays.
- Assist in creating or troubleshooting flat patterns from field designer drawings when needed.
- Learn and apply CNC preparation methods to keep production on schedule.
- Collaborate with the Design Manager, field designers, and production team to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Contribute to maintaining a steady flow of work to prevent assembly line bottlenecks.
Required Qualifications
- Solid working knowledge of AutoCAD (able to clean and prepare production-ready drawings).
- Familiarity with creating or editing flat patterns.
- Some experience with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks ).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Willingness to learn CNC processes (training provided).
- Good organizational skills with the ability to keep up with a steady flow of drawings.
- Efficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Team player with strong communication skills.
Qualifications
- Prior exposure to CNC programming or machine operations.
- Experience in manufacturing, sheet metal, or fabrication environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot design challenges and propose solutions.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines while handling multiple tasks.
