About Wood Designs:

· As our production capabilities grow, we are seeking a skilled CAD/CAM and 3D Modeling Engineer to support design-to-production integration and optimize manufacturing efficiency to join our team.
· This is an in-office position. Monday - Thursday 8:00am-5:30pm Friday 8:00am-12:00pm
Position Summary:
· The CAD/CAM and 3D Modeling Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing-ready models and drawings for production. This role plays a key part in translating design concepts into detailed, precise digital files for CNC machining and fabrication.
Key Responsibilities:
· Create and maintain accurate 3D models, assemblies, and detailed production drawings.
· Develop CAM programs and toolpaths for CNC routers and machining centers.
· Translate design concepts into optimized manufacturing data and production files.
· Review and improve existing designs for manufacturability and reduced cycle times.
· Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot CNC programming or machining issues.
· Maintain libraries of materials, tooling, and machining templates.
· Ensure all models and drawings adhere to company standards and tolerances.
· Assist with prototype builds and pre-production testing.
Qualifications:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in CAD/CAM programming or 3D engineering (preferably in wood, millwork, or furniture manufacturing).
· Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or equivalent 3D CAD software.
· Strong understanding of CNC programming, toolpath strategies, and post-processing.
· Familiarity with G-code and machine setup.
· Knowledge of wood materials, joinery, and cabinet/furniture assembly methods.
· Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and manage multiple projects.
Skills:
· Experience with nesting software (e.g., AlphaCAM, Cabinet Vision, Fusion Nesting, EnRoute).
· Knowledge of lean manufacturing or process improvement methodologies.
· Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing data management systems.
