CAD/BIM Technician

Role Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced CAD/BIM Technician with advanced skills in AutoCAD and Revit to produce accurate technical drawings and 3D models for a variety of projects. The successful candidate will support both design and engineering teams, ensuring precision, compliance, and collaboration across all project stages. A proactive, flexible approach and commitment to teamwork are essential. This is initially a three-month freelance contract with the potential to transition into a permanent position. Working on the construction of the cancer treatment centre in Cardiff.



Key Responsibilities:

• Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Revit.

• Create, modify, and coordinate construction drawings, layouts, and schematics based on design specifications.

• Review and interpret BIM models in Revit, making adjustments as required.

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to translate project requirements into technical outputs.

• Maintain consistency in design, ensuring compliance with industry and project standards.

• Check and verify drawings and models for accuracy and completeness.

• Support the development and maintenance of drafting and BIM standards.

• Keep well-organized records of all drawings, models, and revisions.

• Prepare supporting documentation and technical reports when required.



Experience & Qualifications:



Essential:

• Qualification in Drafting/Modelling, CAD/BIM Technology, or a related field.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in drafting and modelling using AutoCAD and Revit.

• Strong knowledge of UK industry standards within architecture, engineering, or construction.

• Proven proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and Revit (BIM modelling and coordination).

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to prioritise and manage deadlines effectively.

• Site-based experience, ideally within healthcare or similar sectors.

• Ability to interpret and produce technical designs accurately.

• Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.



Desirable:

• Knowledge of ISO 19650, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.

• Experience using Common Data Environments (CDEs) and BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).

• Understanding of building codes, regulations, and BIM environments.

• Familiarity with additional CAD or BIM software tools
