Cable Laying Supervisor
Job Purpose
Responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of cable lay operations and the proper maintenance of related cable lay equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
- Train and develop crew members in the operation, maintenance, and repair of cable laying equipment to ensure competency, safe practices, and efficient execution of activities.
- Report detailed daily job activities to the Barge Superintendent to ensure accurate communication of progress, equipment status, and operational issues.
- Maintain a complete and up-to-date inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment to ensure availability and prevent operational delays.
- Verify that all required cable laying equipment, tools, and accessories are available onboard and properly prepared to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations.
- Maintain a well-documented log of all accessories mobilized with cable laying equipment to ensure traceability and proper asset control.
- Supervise the dismantling and demobilization of cable laying equipment and ensure proper maintenance during idle periods to maintain equipment reliability and readiness.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment condition before and after cable laying activities to identify maintenance requirements and ensure operational efficiency.
- Liaise regularly with the Chief Mechanic to ensure timely inspection, servicing, and maintenance of equipment.
- Implement necessary measures to establish and maintain a safe working environment to protect personnel and equipment during operations.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with company policies, procedures, and HSE standards to maintain safe and controlled operations.
- Coordinate with offshore operations and engineering teams to ensure alignment of cable laying activities with project schedules and technical requirements.
- Monitor cable laying operations and identify potential issues or delays in order to take corrective actions and maintain project timelines.
Educational Qualifications and Certifications
- Secondary School Certificate with a discipline-specific technical qualification, or equivalent
Relevant Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
