Location: Flexible home base in either companies’ offices in either Colorado, Austin, or Pittsburgh; travel to Grand Junction, Montrose, Naturita, Pagosa Springs, Delta, and Denver offices required.Position Overview
- We are seeking a versatile and experienced Business Systems Analyst Lead to serve as a strategic partner to operations and customer service teams at two high-performing waste companies in Colorado: Bruin Waste Management and 5280 Waste Solutions. This hybrid role combines technical systems management with hands-on business process analysis to optimize operational performance, routing, customer experience, and strategic decision-making.
- The ideal candidate is analytical, systems-minded, and obsessed with using data to drive results. They will play a key role in architecting, maintaining, and leveraging core systems such as Navusoft, WhipAround, Samsara, and RouteSmart, helping to standardize operations and unlock efficiencies across the Laurel Mountain portfolio.
Key Objectives
- Serve as administrator and business process architect for core operational systems.
- Ensure systems are designed, implemented, and maintained to support accurate, accessible data.
- Identify operational gaps and inefficiencies through hands-on analysis and structured reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement in routing, billing, customer service, and back-office workflows.
- Partner with leadership to deliver system-informed insights that directly support strategic growth.
Systems Administration
- Act as the business-side administrator for Navusoft, WhipAround, Samsara, and RouteSmart, ensuring clean configuration, user support, and cross-platform alignment.
- Own workflow creation, documentation, and optimization within these systems to drive operational consistency.
- Liaise with IT, software vendors, and internal users to implement upgrades, manage user roles, resolve bugs, and lead onboarding for new tools and features.
- Create training documentation and lead team trainings on system use and best practices.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues that impede business workflows.
Business Analysis & Reporting
- Design dashboards, scorecards, and reports to deliver insights to operations, finance, and customer service teams.
- Lead and support routing optimization projects, using RouteSmart and Samsara data to enhance efficiency, reduce mileage, balance workloads, and improve customer experience.
Data Architecture & Governance
- Design and maintain scalable, integrated data architecture across operational platforms.
- Define data structures, naming conventions, source-of-truth systems, and sync protocols to ensure accurate, reliable, and actionable data.
- Lead efforts to clean, normalize, and unify datasets across business units and systems.
- Collaborate with technical teams and 3rd parties to integrate systems and make data accessible via API’s or other means.
- Champion a culture of data stewardship — ensuring data is not only available but trustworthy, accessible, and aligned with business priorities.
Project & Process Leadership
- Drive cross-functional initiatives such as pricing structure standardization, service code standardization, routing and efficiency projects.
- Develop clear process documentation, training materials, and roll-out strategies for new initiatives.
- Facilitate alignment across offices and divisions to promote consistency in billing, customer service, and data collection.
- Promote shared values and implement them across organizations as part of cultural alignment.
- Lead efforts to streamline customer communication workflows, including development of templates and notification processes.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in business systems administration, customer service ops, or field-based operations (preferably in waste, logistics, or transportation).
- Proven track record with tools such as Navusoft, WhipAround, Samsara, RouteSmart, or similar platforms.
- Experience in systems administration.
- Exceptional analytical skills; strong experience with SQL, Excel, and BI/reporting tools.
- Strong project management skills and cross-functional leadership abilities.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills and ability to train end users.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Operations, Business, or related field.
- Experience with Navusoft or other trash routing/billing systems like Encore, Routeware, Trashflow, Tower, Trux.
- Experience with systems integration, middleware tools, or data warehouse concepts.
- Familiarity with ETL workflows, API management, or scripting is a plus.
- Strong comfort with Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Excel, word.
- Experience using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to optimize workflows and or extract and analyze data.
Additional Information
- The position is full-time and based in Colorado, Austin, or Pittsburgh with regular travel to company locations in Denver and the Western Slope.
- While this role does not have direct reports, it exerts influence across teams, locations, and functions.
- The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative team committed to operational excellence and customer service leadership.
