Building Services Engineer\n\n(Working within a University)\n\nLocation - Southampton\n\n6-month temporary position\n\n£22.28 per hour based on a 37-hour week\n\nFlexible start/finish times.\n\nUse of university van to travel between university sites.\n\nReed Recruitment are recruiting for a mechanically bias, Building Services Engineer, for a period of 6 months to work within a university in Southampton. \n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanically Biased Building Services Maintenance Engineer to join our clients' Estates and Facilities team at a University in Southampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse environment, supporting the smooth operation of our client's campus buildings and infrastructure.\n\nAs a key member of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and improvement of mechanical systems across a wide range of academic buildings.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCarry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on mechanical systems including HVAC, pumps, boilers, and plumbing.\nDiagnose faults and perform repairs to ensure minimal disruption to university operations.\nSupport energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives through effective maintenance practices.\nLiaise with contractors and other trades to ensure high standards of service delivery.\nMaintain accurate records of work.\nEnsure compliance with health and safety regulations and university policies.\n\nAbout You\n\nRelevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.\nProven experience in a similar role within a commercial, public sector, or educational environment.\nKnowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, heating, and plumbing.\nExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.\nGood communication and interpersonal skills.\nAwareness of health and safety legislation and best practices
