Building Automation Systems Project Engineer

Location: Varies – Based in Field (Travel to Project Sites)
Job Type: Permanent Full-Time
Pay Rate: $45,000–$65,000 (Depending on Experience)

All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States – no sponsorship or Corp to Corp is available for this position.

Our client is seeking a Project Engineer for a permanent, full-time opportunity supporting field-based mechanical, electrical, and automation system projects. This role involves hands-on involvement in the full project lifecycle, including system checkout, programming, commissioning, and customer training.
The Project Engineer will primarily work on-site at client locations, coordinating directly with internal teams, subcontractors, and customers to ensure accurate and timely completion of technical fieldwork. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, strong in communication, and able to interpret technical documentation such as submittals, mechanical drawings, and project specifications.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow in system integration and field engineering with exposure to a variety of equipment and control systems. Responsibilities:
• Perform point-to-point verification and field checkout of mechanical/electrical equipment
• Troubleshoot and resolve on-site technical issues; escalate as needed
• Program control systems and set up graphical user interfaces (GUI)
• Provide customer training on system operation and GUIs
• Maintain daily project logs and status updates
• Interpret project scope, plans, submittals, and documentation
• Attend and support project coordination meetings
• Manage small project teams or subcontractors when acting as project lead
• Coordinate with customers, PMs, and internal supervisors regularly
• Ensure project safety protocols and site guidelines are followed Requirements:
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and project specifications
• Familiarity with HVAC or building automation systems ()
• Basic programming and GUI interface knowledge (training available)
• Understanding of standard field engineering practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be comfortable working independently on job sites
• Ability to travel locally to assigned project locations
• On-call availability as needed Salary and Benefits:
