BIM Design Engineer (Fire) in Wolverhampton

Owen Daniels are working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business that is continuing to grow its fire and life safety design capability. As a result, they are looking to add a Fire Alarm CAD / BIM–focused design professional to their team.
This opportunity would suit a CAD Engineer, BIM Engineer, CAD Technician, BIM Technician, Junior Design Engineer, Design Engineer, or similar, who has hands-on experience designing fire alarm systems or other BS-compliant building services systems with fire integration.
Location: Wolverhampton
The role is technically focused and plays a key part in delivering compliant, high-quality fire alarm system designs for environments such as hospitals, care facilities, and complex commercial buildings.
The Role As part of the fire and life safety design team, you’ll be responsible for producing accurate and compliant fire alarm system drawings using CAD and/or BIM tools. You’ll work closely with Design Engineers, Project Managers, and wider internal teams to ensure designs meet British Standards, client requirements, and project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed fire alarm system drawings in line with BS5839, BS7671, and client specifications
Create device layouts, wiring schematics, zoning drawings, containment routes, network diagrams, and as-built drawings
Develop and update drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit
Maintain accurate drawing registers, revision control, device legends, zoning information, and cable routing
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, responding to design changes and site updates as required
Collaborate with Design Engineers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to resolve design and drawing-related issuesExperience, Skills & Qualifications
Background as a CAD Engineer, BIM Engineer, CAD/BIM Technician, Junior Design Engineer, Design Engineer, or similar
Experience producing CAD and/or BIM drawings for fire alarm systems or BS-compliant building services systems with fire
Working knowledge of BS5839 and core fire alarm design principles
Competence in AutoCAD (Revit experience advantageous but not essential)
Ability to work independently, manage your own workload, and meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy
Clear communication skills with experience working alongside internal teams and external stakeholders
