We have a great opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to our Energy Solutions business.\n\nEquans Energy Solutions is a market leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor focussed on the energy transition.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer within this team you will play a key role in the end-to-end delivery of our projects by providing electrical technical leadership during engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. Your focus will be on BESS, electrolytic hydrogen and PV projects with the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the UK’s decarbonisation efforts.\n\nKey activities\n\nAs a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for electrical engineering and design on our BESS, PV and Hydrogen projects as well as technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle. \n\nLead the electrical system design for energy projects, including HV/LV distribution systems, protection schemes, and control systems\nDevelop single-line diagrams, protection coordination studies, and detailed design drawings\nPerform power system studies including load flow, fault current, and stability analysis\nPrepare, review and approve electrical equipment specifications and vendor documentation\nEnsure compliance with UK grid codes, G99, and relevant standards \nPrepare detailed technical specifications for major electrical equipment including transformers, power conversion systems, protection relays, and control systems\nSupport with the development of tender packages and scope of work documents for electrical contractors\nLead technical bid evaluations and contractor selection process\nConduct site inspections to promote our Safety-First culture and ensure quality of installation\nAct as Electrically Authorised Person (EAP) and support training of other EAPs\nReview and respond to technical queries and contractor RFIs\nReview and approve as-built documentation\nDevelop detailed commissioning specifications and acceptance criteria\nOversee pre-commissioning checks and testing activities \n\nSkills, qualifications & experience\n\nEducation:\n\nBEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering or related field\nChartered Engineer (CEng) status \nAuthorised person HV | LV qualification or similar \n\nExperience:\n\nSolid experience in electrical system design\nDemonstrable experience with BESS &/or hydrogen (both )\nStrong background in HV systems (11kV-132kV) design and protection\nProven track record in managing subcontractors and reviewing deliverables\nExperience with UK grid compliance and connection requirements\nExperience in equipment factory testing and inspection\nUnderstanding of commissioning protocols for HV/LV systems \n\nTechnical Skills:\n\nProficiency in power system analysis software \nStrong knowledge of electrical CAD software\nUnderstanding of IEC 61850 and relevant communication protocols\nExperience with protection relay coordination\nFamiliarity with energy management systems and grid services \n\nWhat can we offer you? \n\nOn offer is a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes; \n\n25 days annual leave (+ public holidays) \n5% bonus\nPrivate health care (Single Use)\nPrivate GP consultations\nCompany car\nLife Cover equivalent to 2 times annual salary \nEmployee discount shopping schemes on major brands and retailers \nGym membership discounts \nCycle to work scheme \nHoliday purchase scheme \n2 corporate social responsibility days per year \nBroad range of learning opportunities, such as professional qualifications, collective/individual training, and personalized support programmes \nAttractive Employee Referral Rewards Scheme \nAccess to our growing employee networks including WiE (Women in EQUANS), RISE (BAME), LGBTQI+, Working Parents, YPN (Young Persons Network) and our Network \n24/7 Employee Assistance Program and access to mental wellbeing app \n\nWho are we?\n\nEQUANS is a world leader in energy services with nearly 100,000 employees working in more than 50 countries, with an annual turnover of over 17 billion euros. \n\nIn the UK & Ireland, EQUANS is a provider of technical, FM, regeneration and energy services – with specialist capabilities in smart buildings, green mobility, district & embedded energy and decentralised renewables.\n\nEQUANS’ 13,500 UK & Ireland employees combine these activities to help businesses, public sector organisations and government to embrace the energy transition towards net zero, and also the digital & industrial transitions that are redesigning the way we move, work and live.\n\nEQUANS is a Bouygues group company.\n\nWhat’s next?\n\nIf this role is of interest to you, please click below to register, apply, and track your progress!
