BESS Design Engineer

Job Description

Taylor Hopkinson are currently searching for an experienced BESS Design Engineer to join the team to assist with the construction of Utility-scale BESS Projects throughout the UK and Europe.

Role

• Assist with the technical planning and coordination for the construction of large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), including the selection and coordination of technical components
• Review and contribute to the approval of design packages for construction,
• Develop and maintain internal knowledge base documents and best practices for BESS Projects
• Monitor new BESS Product and technology launches throughout Europe
• Working with consultants and sub-contractors to oversee detailed design, engineering programmes and deliverables
• Assist in the design and cost optimisation activities, taking into account all EPC cost categories
• Prepare regular progress reports of the technical commissioning processes
• Manage technical query coordination with suppliers, sub-contractors and consultants at the design, selection, financing and project delivery stages

Requirements

• BSc, BEng or MSc in Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering or similar
• Proven history of success in the technical design and specification of utility-scale energy storage projects
• Up to date and in-depth knowledge with how equipment works and how it interfaces within commercial contracts
• Experience with HV components is an advantage
• Experience in Energy Consultancy considered
• Successful experience working on projects across Europe and the UK
