Looking for a modeling engineer to further our battery modeling capabilities. This person should have a strong mathematical & algorithmic background as well as fluency in programming, preferably using Matlab. The ideal candidate will also have some familiarity with battery modeling (equivalent circuit, physics-based, aging, etc.) but this type of experience is optional and can be trained.

 

Required:

• Experience Programming - Ideally an experienced Matlab user but Python or C++ programming & basic familiarity with Matlab are also acceptable, ability to document code well, provide comments, follow clear structure and naming conventions

• Mathematical Modeling - familiarity with mathematical concepts like optimization methods, numerical simulations, computationally solving differential equations, ability to solve optimization problem using Matlab or Python,

 

Pluses:

• Understanding Lithium-ion Batteries. Familiarity with basic concepts related to lithium-ion batteries, such as C-rate, capacity, DCIR.

• Data analysis & automation - Familiarity with data structures, demonstrated experience processing large volumes of test data, reading different file types and automation of analysis process, familiarity with concepts like optimization with genetics algorithms and neural networks

• FEA modeling - experience using commercial modeling packages like COMSOL for multiphysics modeling or ANSYS, exposure to electrochemical and thermal modeling.

 

Comm skills:

• Presentation skills - ability to present data meaningfully, answering questions like: “What is the main conclusion?”; “Why is this relevant?”; “What are the next steps based on the results I am presenting?”, rather that pasting auto-generated figures.

• Integrity - commitment to present true and accurate data, even if they are not leading to expected or clear conclusions
