About the Role:
The Field Engineer is a highly skilled expert in audio visual equipment and is responsible for all oversight and aspects of QA/QC of the integration of AV systems. The Field Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the systems functionality as designed, ensuring standards and procedures are followed, and performing the final inspection of installations. The Field Engineer will be responsible for the system turn-over and client acceptance and will be responsible for training the end user.
The Field Engineer will also provide pre-sales support to perform a pre-sales walkthrough when a Design Engineer is not available.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform a full quality control check for all fabrication and installation efforts, including, but not limited to, AV best practices and ComNet company standards
- Participate in internal project kick-off meetings that include key participants from sales, engineering, fabrication and installation
- Perform all software/firmware configuration uploads and check to ensure the system performs to both the manufacturer’s specifications and ComNet’s
- Coordinate/approve any red line updates on system drawings for any changes required during the fabrication, installation, and quality control steps
- Provide clear and concise documentation on any configurations implemented or needed for successful implementation (i.e., network configurations, video settings, DSP settings, etc.)
- Perform full system calibrations for audio and video on installed systems
- Perform full control system testing with programming support of installed control systems
- Complete system test and accept/certifications/commissioning for installed solutions both remotely and onsite at client’s premises
- Support all types of technical escalations from the field team and work with other team members on resolutions as needed
- Provide end user training and support for deployments
- Travel to client sites and other ComNet offices as required
- Must be open to extensive travel
- The worker is subject to inside/outside environmental conditions
- Help with field installations when necessary to get projects completed or brought back on timeline
Required Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge of industry and standards in AV systems design and integration
- InfoComm CTS
- DM certification
- Must have excellent communication skills and possess excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to perform advanced troubleshooting on any device
- Be a team leader and possess excellent leadership qualities
- Expert knowledge of audio principles and must have the ability to write and fine tune audio programs for DSP and VTC systems
- Expert knowledge of loading and troubleshooting AMX, Crestron, and Extron systems
- Must be well versed in interacting with networks (wired or wireless) and must be able to support networked solutions for video conferencing, VOIP audio conferencing and control systems networking
- 5-15 years or more of related industry experience
Desired Qualifications:
- CTS-I certification
- DMC-E certification
- DSP programming certifications
- Cisco, Tandberg, Polycom Telepresence installation experience/certification
- Syn-Aud-Con certifications
- Ability to travel 20%
