Automation Software Engineer\nLocation: Greater Manchester\nSalary: £45,000 – £52,000 + Benefits\nType: Full-time, Permanent\n\nA fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Automation Software Engineer to join a well-established engineering company based in Greater Manchester. You’ll be part of a skilled team working on the development and configuration of automation software for packaging machinery — including new builds, R&D, and retrofit projects.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n * \n\n Programming Siemens PLCs, SCADA, and drive systems (TIA Portal, WinCC, Sinamics S120)\n\n * \n\n Creating and adapting automation software for standard and bespoke machinery\n\n * \n\n Supporting commissioning and troubleshooting, both on-site and internationally\n\n * \n\n Managing your own software design projects and liaising with internal and external stakeholders\n\nWhat We’re Looking For:\n\n * \n\n Strong experience in Siemens TIA Portal and WinCC SCADA programming\n\n * \n\n Familiarity with Sinamics S120 & CU320 drive systems\n\n * \n\n Understanding of machine control systems including pneumatics, hydraulics, and FieldBus\n\n * \n\n Degree or HND in Engineering (Electrical, Automation, or related discipline)\n\n * \n\n Willingness to travel globally when required\n\n * \n\n Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities\n\nDesirable:\n\n * \n\n Electrical design experience (control cabinets)\n\n * \n\n Roll-to-roll winding knowledge\n\n * \n\n Experience in machinery commissioning\n\nThis is a hands-on, diverse role offering the chance to contribute to innovative automation solutions in a company committed to engineering excellence.\n\nApply today to be part of something impactful
