Importantly, this is not a pure Controls Engineer or Robotics Programmer role. Instead, you'll use your fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills to keep automated systems running efficiently while receiving ongoing robotics training and development.

The Role

As an Automation Engineer, you'll support a range of automated production cells and robotic systems across the manufacturing facility.

Your responsibilities will include:

    \n
  • Diagnosing faults across automated manufacturing equipment
  • \n

  • Supporting ABB, Fanuc and KUKA robotic systems
  • \n

  • Making modifications to existing robot programmes and production routines
  • \n

  • Troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment
  • \n

  • Carrying out fault finding on Siemens S5, Siemens S7 and Mitsubishi PLC systems
  • \n

  • Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • \n

  • Investigating recurring equipment failures and implementing solutions
  • \n

  • Assisting with automation upgrades and improvement projects
  • \n

  • Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise performance
  • \n

 

About You

We would welcome applications from candidates with experience in roles such as Automation Engineer, Robotics Engineer, Automation Technician, Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Multi-skilled Engineer.

You will ideally have:

    \n
  • Experience working within an automated manufacturing environment
  • \n

  • Exposure to at least one robotics platform such as ABB, Fanuc or KUKA
  • \n

  • PLC fault-finding and diagnostic experience
  • \n

  • Strong electrical fault-finding capability
  • \n

  • A practical approach to engineering problem solving
  • \n

  • Experience supporting production or manufacturing equipment
  • \n

It would be beneficial but not essential to have:

    \n
  • Previous automation or robotics maintenance experience
  • \n

  • Multi-skilled maintenance engineering experience
  • \n

  • Continuous improvement experience
  • \n

  • Knowledge of automated production cells
  • \n
