Automation Engineer
Position Summary:
BioFire Defense, LLC. is seeking a qualified, motivated Automation Engineer to join our team.
This individual provides technical support for the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the site's automation and process control infrastructure. The Engineer implements improvements in systems capabilities that will increase the ability to meet customer needs and strengthen business competitiveness. You will work closely with the Manufacturing and Technical resources, operators, and mechanics to understand the business, site and user needs and priorities.
Responsibilities and duties
- Ensure that automation systems operate efficiently and safely, and in compliance with cGMP requirements.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate automated solutions seamlessly.
- Execute thorough testing protocols to validate automation system functionality.
- Troubleshoot high throughput automation equipment, resolve issues in existing automation setups.
- Participate in improvement projects, process validations, and investigations of product non-conformance.
- Continuously evaluate and update automation systems for efficiency.
- Document processes and system configurations, enabling easier future modifications.
- SCADA integration & control system interfaces
- On-site commissioning, calibration & troubleshooting.
- May be required to obtain and maintain a DoD Personnel Security clearance.
Training and Education:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
Experience:
- 0-2 years of experience in automation engineering
- PLC & HMI programming experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens)
- Understanding of industrial protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
- Experience working in a medical device clean manufacturing environment is a plus.
Skills:
- Must be able to read and follow detailed written instructions, have strong problem-solving skills, and have good verbal/written communication skills.
- Results oriented and possessing ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
- Proficiency with MS-Office software including MS Word and Excel.
- Experience with scripting likePythonor Shell is a plus
- Able to safely lift 50 pounds.
