Job Overview

Tecport Optics is seeking a skilled Automation Controls Engineer to design, implement, and support automation and control systems for our advanced thin film vacuum deposition equipment. This role will involve developing and programming control systems, commissioning new installations, and supporting system upgrades for both domestic and international customers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, PLC programming, schematic design, and automation troubleshooting, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment.

Job Functions

  • Design, program, and implement PLC-based automation control systems for high vacuum coating equipment.
  • Develop and update electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
  • Configure and integrate peripheral automation devices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, control, and communication issues on-site and remotely.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to integrate new control features and optimize system performance.
  • Supervise installation, commissioning, and testing of automated systems at customer sites.
  • Maintain documentation, including schematics, code libraries, and network configurations.
  • Provide training and technical support to customers and internal teams.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and system upgrades on existing installations.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to customer sites as needed (up to 50%).

Required Qualification

  • US or Green Card Holder (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley ) and industrial automation.
  • Proficiency in reading and creating electrical schematics (AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet/IP network setup, device configuration, and remote support tools.
  • Ability to setup remote I/O on system
  • Ability to configure Drives
  • Ability to run and terminal cables in the system
  • Experience integrating automation peripherals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of NEC ( Electric Code) Regulations
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights up to 15’.

Pay

  • Based on experience and qualifications.

Misc.
