Automation Controls Engineer

Aegis Worldwide is partnered with an Automotive Supplier on the East Side of Indianapolis who is looking to add an Automation Controls Engineer to their team. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Automation Controls Engineer to join our team at a leading automotive parts manufacturing and supply facility. This role will focus on the development, integration, and support of automation systems across production lines. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing automation, with a strong background in PLC programming, robotics, motion control, and industrial systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron) using Ladder Logic, Function Block, and Structured Text.
  • Develop and support HMI/SCADA interfaces (FactoryTalk View, Omron).
  • Integrate and program industrial robots (FANUC, Yaskawa, UR), including calibration and safety compliance.
  • Configure and tune motion control systems, including servo drives, stepper motors, and VFDs.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and design control panels using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Collaborate with mechanical teams for machine assembly, including blueprint reading, precision component assembly, and basic fabrication tasks.
  • Participate in the commissioning of new machines and production cells.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, internal specifications, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation () Associate's Degree (Encouraged)
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing automation or controls engineering role, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Proficient in PLC programming, robotics, and motion control systems.
  • Solid understanding of pneumatic/hydraulic circuits and machine build practices.
  • Experience with mechanical drawing interpretation and fabrication basics.

  • Documentation: Creates clear and professional SOPs, user manuals, and training materials for internal teams and end users.
