Position Summary:
AAA United States, Inc. is seeking skilled Automation & Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, and commissioning of automated systems for advanced vessel and marine applications.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for performing design calculations, developing technical drawings, and programming automation and control systems under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
- Support the configuration and commissioning of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and related control equipment.
- Work closely with production teams, vendors, customer representatives, and design teams to ensure project deliverables are met.
- Compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards is required in all activities.
Requirements:
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
- Familiarity with control system programming and server administration is necessary.
- Ability to troubleshoot automation systems and work collaboratively with production, design, and customer teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Additional experience with integrated automation platforms such as Siemens PCS7 is highly desirable, as is familiarity with Siemens SIMATIC variable speed drives.
- Knowledge of Windows Server domain management, including DNS, Active Directory, and Group Policy, will strengthen a candidate's profile.
- Experience in high-speed aluminum vessel construction, knowledge of ship and propulsion systems, and familiarity with U.S. Navy vessel design and maritime regulatory bodies such as ABS, DNV, NAVSEA, and USCG are all advantageous.
- Strong technical foundation in automation systems, control architectures, and marine engineering environments is crucial.
- Ability to apply this knowledge to support the design, implementation, and commissioning of complex automated control systems aboard vessels.
