Audit Manager

The Audit Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, audit readiness, cash flow management, and regulatory compliance. This role is ideal for a CPA with a strong foundation in public accounting (preferably at the audit manager level). The position supports the VP of Finance and includes team oversight, cross-functional collaboration, and responsibility for accurate and timely financial reporting.
Core Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Oversight
· Oversee daily accounting functions including journal entries, reconciliations, inventory, intercompany transactions, and fixed asset management.
· Manage the general ledger and ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings.
· Supervise staff accountants to ensure compliance with internal policies and GAAP.
· Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across multiple business entities.
· Ensure accurate and timely processing of high-volume accounts payable, especially for COD vendors.
· Collaborate with cross-functional departments to improve workflow efficiency.
Audit, Reporting & Compliance
· Lead audit preparation, including documentation and reconciliation review.
· Liaise with external auditors to ensure audit readiness and clean audits.
· Prepare and publish monthly and year-end financial statements.
· Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations (e.g., sales, franchise tax).
· Support variance analysis and financial consolidations using Excel and accounting software.
Cash Management
· Monitor cash flow, daily bank activity, and ensure adequate working capital.
· Recommend and implement short-term cash management strategies.
· Ensure timely payments across all vendors and maintain strong vendor relationships.
· Assist with cash flow forecasting and escalation of concerns to the VP of Finance.
Leadership
· Supervise, mentor, and train accounting staff to ensure professional growth and performance.
· Delegate responsibilities while maintaining accountability for outcomes.
· Communicate effectively across teams to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting and internal controls.
· Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and continuous process improvement projects.
· All other duties assigned
Desired Competencies
· Strong understanding of GAAP accounting
· Understanding of accounts payable practices; knowledge of fixed asset schedules
· Math and calculator skills; 10 critical skilled for GL entries.
· Ability to communicate effectively via email, phone and in person.
· Problem-solving and problem analysis skills.
· Self-starter: able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
· Ability to stay on task with minimal supervision to meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, computers, Expert level excel, current software, and other office tools.
· Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in the English .

· Skill in listening and conveying awareness of problems or issues to find a resolution.
· Skill in identifying and systematically organizing resources to prioritize fluctuating workloads, optimize efficiency, and ensure the achievement of company goals.
· Ability to understand policies and procedures and follow appropriately.
Qualifications
· CPA designation required.
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with prior audit/public accounting
· Experience managing accounting staff and reviewing detailed financial work.
· Proficiency in Excel, and modern accounting systems.
· Experience with high-volume payables and multi-entity environments.
· Familiarity with regulatory and tax reporting standards.
Working Conditions
Positions in this class require: typing, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. May be required to lift up to 10 pounds, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects while completing essential functions. This position is comprised of sedentary work, which involves sitting at a computer a majority of the workday; walking and standing are required only occasionally. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer screen, handling smartphone devices, and reading extensively. The office environment is climate controlled and little outside activity. Regular travel and driving are required for visiting stakeholders and attending meetings, community activities, professional and semi-social gatherings.
