Job Title: Associate Town Planner\n\nLocation Nottingham\n\nAs an Associate Town Planner, you will take a leading role within a multidisciplinary team of planners and urban designers, delivering high-quality planning services across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will be responsible for overseeing complex schemes, managing key client relationships, and contributing to the strategic direction of projects and the wider business.\n\nThis role offers a strong balance of project leadership, commercial responsibility, and team development within a supportive and forward-thinking environment that values innovation and creativity.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProject & Technical Leadership\n\nLead the delivery of complex planning projects from inception through to determination\nOversee preparation and submission of high-quality planning applications, appeals and supporting reports\nProvide expert planning advice on a wide range of development proposals\nEnsure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high professional standardClient & Stakeholder Management\n\nAct as a senior point of contact for key clients\nBuild, maintain and strengthen long-term client relationships\nRepresent the consultancy at meetings, hearings and public consultations\nProvide clear, commercially focused planning advice and guidanceStrategic & Commercial Contribution\n\nContribute to the development and implementation of planning strategies\nIdentify opportunities for new work and support business development activity\nAssist in preparing bids, tenders and proposals\nPromote a commercially aware approach across all project workLeadership & Mentoring\n\nSupport, guide and mentor junior and mid-level planners\nFoster a collaborative, supportive and high-performance team culture\nContribute to internal knowledge sharing and professional development initiativesCollaboration\n\nWork closely with urban designers and technical specialists to deliver integrated planning solutions\nEncourage innovative, design-led approaches to development opportunitiesRequirements\n\nDegree in Town Planning or related discipline (essential)\nChartered Membership of the RTPI (or equivalent)\nSignificant experience within a UK planning consultancy or local authority environment\nProven track record at Senior or Principal level, ready to step into an Associate role\nStrong experience managing complex planning applications and projects\nExcellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills\nStrong commercial awareness and ability to support business growth\nConfident leadership and mentoring capability\nKnowledge across residential, mixed-use and broader development sectors desirableWhat's on Offer\n\nSenior leadership role within a growing and ambitious consultancy\nOpportunity to influence major and complex development projects\nStrong emphasis on creativity, collaboration and innovation\nClear progression opportunities toward Director level\nFlexible and supportive working culture\nExposure to a wide variety of project types and sectors\nCompetitive salary and benefits packageInterested?\n \n The hiring manager is looking to meet with suitable candidates ASAP so if you meet the above criteria, please contact Josh Jones on (phone number removed) or (url removed)
