A growing building services consultancy is looking for an Associate Engineer to join its senior management team in London.
This is a leadership role for a chartered engineer with at least 10 years' experience who wants to run a team, lead projects and have a real say in where the business goes next.
The Role
As an Associate, you'll be a senior engineer, a people leader and a business ambassador in one. You'll lead a team day to day, run multiple projects, and be the face of the business with clients and the wider industry.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Acting as line manager for your team, looking after their workload, wellbeing, job satisfaction and career development.
* Leading multiple projects and taking responsibility for fees, resources and successful delivery across your team.
* Leading engineering design at every project stage and coordinating building services with the external design team.
* Providing technical leadership, developing innovative concept designs and helping colleagues grow their expertise.
* Keeping up with trends in architecture, environmental design and building services so our designs stay forward-thinking.
* Building strong client relationships and making sure client aspirations are reflected in the design.
* Representing the business at client presentations, meetings and external events.
* Ensuring designs meet building regulations, planning policy, British Standards and CIBSE guidance.
* Visiting site to check design intent is followed and reviewing inspection reports.
* Working with the Directors on labour forecasting and resourcing across the company.
* Helping shape internal processes and standards, and making sure your team follows them.
* Generating new business leads and nurturing existing relationships.
About You
You'll have:
* At least 10 years' experience as a building services engineer.
* Chartered membership of CIBSE, IMechE or the IET.
* A good degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, building services engineering or a related discipline.
* Experience leading projects internally and acting as the main contact for the external design team.
* Experience managing project finances and resources.
* A history of managing junior engineers and delegating effectively.
* Business development skills and the ability to win repeat work.
* Competence in thermal modelling software such as IES, 2D AutoCAD, and experience with Revit or similar BIM tools.
* Knowledge of building regulations, planning policy, British Standards, CIBSE guidance and a designer's duties under CDM.
* Awareness of current trends in sustainable and environmental design.
* Excellent leadership, communication, organisation and interpersonal skills, with a positive and approachable style.
* The ability to prioritise and deliver under pressure, with great attention to detail.

* Experience managing a team of engineers, with proven results in project profitability and client and staff satisfaction.
