Associate Director – Electrical Engineering - Data Centres 

About the Role:



A respected multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an accomplished Associate Director – Electrical Engineering to join its senior leadership team. In this high-impact role, you’ll oversee the delivery of complex, large-scale projects across the EMEA region, primarily within data centres, advanced industrial, and commercial sectors.

As a strategic and technical leader, you’ll be responsible for managing both project performance and people development, driving quality, innovation, and commercial outcomes. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure technical excellence, budget control, and timely delivery.

This is a hybrid position based in Ireland, with in-office attendance in Dublin aligned to team and project needs.



What You’ll Bring:

 

  • Honours degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) is an advantage

  • 10+ years of relevant electrical design experience in mission-critical and commercial environments

  • 3+ years’ leadership experience, managing multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Strong track record in project management and client-facing roles

  • In-depth understanding of MEP integration and large-scale project delivery

  • Skilled in financial oversight, budgeting, and resource planning

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Passionate about technical quality, team development, and emerging technologies



Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the electrical design strategy and execution for large-scale, technically complex projects

  • Review and sign off on key design outputs to ensure compliance, quality, and client alignment

  • Oversee collaboration between electrical and mechanical teams, ensuring seamless integration

  • Monitor and control budgets, deliverables, and timelines across multiple concurrent projects

  • Champion internal design standards, QA/QC protocols, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Support resource planning and manage outsourcing where necessary

  • Interpret and work within the framework of engineering contracts

  • Represent the consultancy with clients, suppliers, and external stakeholders

  • Identify and act on business development opportunities in collaboration with senior leadership

  • Mentor and develop engineering staff through structured reviews, training plans, and informal support

  • Keep teams informed and trained on new technologies and best practices

  • Contribute to strategic direction, supporting company-wide goals and operational improvement
