Job Description

As a Data Scientist in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you will have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better. Independently perform analyses and implement technologies to deliver precise, reliable, and reproducible reports or solutions in a timely manner, under the direction of a more senior leader. 

***This is a hybrid role based in Lake County, IL***

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions and data products to support a variety of AI, gen AI, data science and automation requests using python and other tools.
  • Troubleshoot algorithms, protocols, and software programs. 
  • Demonstrate skill in multiple data engineering and data science techniques and appropriately modify protocols, as required, to suit the changing needs of our business. 
  • Perform routine tasks competently and independently and generate reliable and consistent results. 
  • Analyze and critique results, noting significant variances or deviations. 
  • Learn and understand new methods and technologies. 
  • Create documentation and data visualizations to effectively communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences  
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, and data security. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years experience or Master’s Degree 
  • Experience working on data science projects using python, as well as statistical and AI/ML frameworks to address business use cases.
  • Experience in data engineering, insight , advanced analytics, and data science. 
  • Developing visualizations with tools like Power BI, Tableau or similar. 
  • Experience with GenAI application development, LLM prompt engineering and LLM-based solution architecture like RAG.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with advanced analytics and data science platforms like Dataiku, Alteryx or Sagemaker. 
  • Experience building solutions for finance stakeholders.
  • Experience building solutions using AWS services.
