Renewable Energy Electrical Engineering Assistant Vice President
for our
Irvine, CA
office. The following locations will also be considered:
Los Angeles, CA, Riverside, CA . This opportunity involves being part of our experienced
Renewables team
in the West.
This Opportunity
Provides high-level technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of commercial and industrial scale projects in the public and private sector. Tasks include research, design, concept development, planning, and detailed design for renewable energy facilities (solar photovoltaics, BESS, microgrids), power distribution, power regulation, as well as protection and control systems across various contexts (utilities, transportation, building, government).
Develops electrical models and reports for detailed electrical design of various project sizes for the commercial industry. Ensures responsibilities are delivered with quality that meets or exceeds industry standards.
Your Impact
Guide data collection and analysis relating to renewable energy components, specifications, and standards.
Review and approve electrical infrastructure design plans, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
Apply electrical engineering techniques to improve project phases from concept to operation.
Perform complex electrical engineering work, including creating wiring diagrams, schematics, and protection systems.
Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, equipment sizing, and safety considerations.
Review electrical calculations and develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Manage design and construction of electrical infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
Oversee teams of engineers and professionals, managing budgets, schedules, and compliance.
Prepare data visualizations and technical reports for project interpretation and presentation.
Maintain high quality and responsiveness to client needs.
Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
Analyze field data for risk mitigation activities.
Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients professionally.
Collaborate on projects and business development opportunities.
Stay current with electrical engineering practices.
Adhere to ethical standards and company policies.
Perform additional duties as needed.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of relevant experience in electrical design for power projects.
Engineer license .
Proficiency in electrical engineering principles and practices.
Knowledge of infrastructure design and renewable energy systems.
Experience with electrical infrastructure planning, design, and management.
Knowledge of relevant laws, codes, and regulations.
Strong technical computation and inspection skills.
Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-leadership, attention to detail, and multi-tasking abilities.
Ability to work independently and lead teams, adhering to QA/QC.
Proficiency with design software (Helioscope, PVsystem, Revit, AutoCAD, etc.).
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to coordinate subcontractors and ensure safety.
Commitment to workplace safety and company policies.
Flexibility for project-specific schedules and travel.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Engineering.
NABCEP certification.
Experience managing large, multi-engineer projects.
WSP offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, retirement, paid leave, and more. Salary range: $133,400 - $180,200, based on experience and location.
