Job Description:
Responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant handling of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) vehicles. This position works outside in all types of weather conditions to supervise and oversee such tasks as driving, loading, readying for transport, and securing vehicles on bi-level, autorack railcars. There is a strong preference for prior management experience as well as working outdoors, performing manual labor or in a manufacturing environment, however these are not a requirement. As long as you have some supervisory experience and are up to the physical and environmental demands of this job, there will be on-the-job (OJT) training.
· Manage the daily operations of railcar loading including pre-shift, quality audits, safety observations, post loading inspections, and close-of-business reporting.
· Ensure compliance with Company standards, AAR regulations, Norfolk Southern (NS) guidelines, Stellantis shipping requirements, and applicable internal and external policies / procedures.
· Submit and/or verify daily reporting is sent and updated, as required.
· Communicate with union loading crews their work assignments and ensure collective bargaining agreement productivity standards are met.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be able to properly manage union associates and hourly employees in an assembly plant / railyard environment.
- Must prepare, inspect, and enforce that all necessary clothing/gear/PPE is to standard and worn.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime, as needed, including weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet fleet insurance requirements for group coverage.
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment physical, as required.
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment DOT drug screen and breathalyzer, as required.
- Must be able to successfully complete eRailSafe 2.0 Class I background check and certification process within 90 days.
- Good communication skills and ability to lead a team.
- Professional appearance and etiquette required. Customer courtesy is a must.
- Maintain and enforce safe work habits to prevent accidents and injuries.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds overhead repeatedly during a shift.
- Very frequent walking on potentially uneven surfaces, including avoiding obstacles.
- Able to work at heights and in tight spaces.
- Walking, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, lifting, and kneeling are all required physical aspects of the position.
Required Qualifications:
