Job Description

Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Drywall/Specialist Fit Out Contractor

Location: Witham, Essex (commutable distance ideally)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you an organised, detail-oriented individual with a passion for construction and cost management? We’re working on behalf of a busy regional contractor looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their friendly, hands-on team.

The Role

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll support senior surveyors across a variety of projects (refurbishments, fit-outs and new build work). Core responsibilities include:

• Assisting with cost plans, budgets and tender documentation.
• Measuring and quantifying work from drawings and specifications (take-offs, bills of quantities).
• Helping prepare valuations, interim payment applications and final accounts.
• Supporting subcontractor procurement and cost-control procedures, including managing variations and cost reporting.
• Attending site visits and liaising with project teams to monitor progress and ensure financial accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

We’d like to hear from you if you have:

• A relevant qualification (or are working towards one) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar.
• Strong numeracy, analytical and organisational skills, with attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with a varied team of contractors, site staff and management.
• A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn and grow within a supportive environment.
• Ideally, you’ll be based within commuting range of Witham.
